Emerald’s Gildred Honored Twice in San Diego

Local biz journal, bank announce winners of 5th annual awards program

For the second time in December 2011, an outside group has recognized Emerald Textiles CEO Tom Gildred for excellence in executive leadership.

Based in San Diego, Gildred was named on Dec. 8 as one of 18 CEOs honored in the Fifth Annual Most Admired CEO awards program sponsored by the San Diego Business Journal and the Bank of America Corp.

“San Diego is fortunate to have so many high-caliber CEOs,” said Randy Frisch, president and publisher of the San Diego Business Journal, during an awards program that drew 600 attendees. “As keynote speaker Garry Ridge, president and CEO of WD 40 said, we have lots of talented professionals, and the way to maintain that is to challenge ourselves to improve every day. We can do that.”

Gildred was chosen from among 75 finalists for awards that were given in 12 categories, ranging from “Family Owned/Small Companies” to “Public Company/Small.” Gildred was recognized in the “Private Company/Large” category.

On Dec. 11, Gildred also was recognized as a finalist in the Vistage 2011 National Member Leadership Award. This program recognizes “bold leaders in the categories of collaboration, courage, impact, innovation, judgment and passion.”
