San Diego, CA August 30, 2022 – Emerald Textiles™ (“Emerald”), a portfolio company of Los Angeles-based private investment firm Pacific Avenue Capital Partners, LLC (“Pacific Avenue”), announced that Emerald Textiles Turlock facility in Northern California recently achieved renewal of TRSA Hygienically Clean Healthcare certification with an elite score of 100% and zero discrepancies. The independent, third-party inspection must also confirm essential evidence that:

  • Employees are properly trained and protected
  • Managers understand regulatory requirements
  • OSHA-compliant
  • Physical plant operates effectively

Emerald Textiles is the largest acute care linen and laundry commercial service that processes and delivers high quality, clean healthcare textiles to Hospitals, medical centers, surgery centers, and clinics across the Western U.S. Emerald specializes in healthcare’s most critically sensitive needs with a complement of patient and staff linen products, services, and solutions, providing the highest patient safety and superior cleanliness for our customers. Delivering high quality means continual investments in our facilities, the latest technology, and equipment through automated systems, an experienced workforce, and unwavering focus on customer experience.

To achieve Hygienically Clean certification initially, laundries pass three rounds of outcome-based microbial testing, indicating that their processes are producing Hygienically Clean Healthcare textiles and zero presence of yeast, mold, and harmful bacteria. They also must pass a facility inspection. To maintain their certification, they must pass quarterly testing to ensure that as laundry conditions change, such as water quality, textile fabric composition and wash chemistry, laundered product quality is consistently maintained. Re-inspection occurs every two to three years. This process eliminates subjectivity by focusing on outcomes and results that verify textiles cleaned in these facilities meet appropriate hygienically clean standards and BMPs for hospitals, surgery centers, medical offices, nursing homes and other medical facilities.

Hygienically Clean Healthcare certification acknowledges laundries’ effectiveness in protecting healthcare operations by verifying quality control procedures in linen, uniform and facility services operations related to the handling of textiles containing blood and other potentially infectious materials. Certification is renewed every three years with Emerald Textiles Turlock.

Certified laundries use processes, chemicals and BMPs are grounded in the regulations and standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC), , Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Introduced in 2012, Hygienically Clean Healthcare brought to North America the international cleanliness standards for healthcare linens and garments used worldwide by the Certification Association for Professional Textile Services and the European Committee for Standardization.

Objective experts in bacteriology, infection control, nursing and other healthcare professions work with Hygienically Clean launderers and the Hygienically Clean advisory board to ensure the certification continues to enforce the highest standards for producing clean healthcare textiles.
