Emerald Textiles’ High-Tech, Environmentally Responsible Commercial Laundry Facility Achieves Unprecedented Water Savings and Cleanliness
SAN DIEGO – January 5, 2011 – Emerald Textiles™, a commercial healthcare laundry service offering linen rentals and management solutions for Southern California health care providers, is pleased to announce that it has recently been selected by Scripps Health as exclusive provider of linen and linen services for all Scripps facilities. Emerald Textiles, which recently opened its $20-million dollar state-of-the-art facility in San Diego, is the first to build a new commercial laundry facility in the region in 30 years, and provide an alternative for healthcare laundry in the area.
“We are proud to be the linen service provider for Scripps Health, a recognized leader in healthcare,” said Tom Gildred, founder and chief executive officer of Emerald Textiles. “With the most advanced technology and energy friendly processes, Emerald Textiles is the environmentally responsible choice for commercial linen services. We provide our customers quality linens, the highest cleanliness and solutions that save costs. Ultimately, that leads to happy patients and greater efficiency for our customers.”
San Diego-based Scripps Health is a $2.3 billion, nonprofit integrated health care delivery system that treats a half-million patients annually. Emerald Textiles will manage laundering services and linen supplies for Scripps Health’s five acute-care hospital campuses and 22 outpatient clinics. Teams from Emerald Textiles and Scripps Health worked together to execute a seamless transition of services in just weeks.
Emerald Textiles’ San Diego facility is housed in an 111,000 square-foot industrial building, and outfitted with the most advanced equipment available. The facility is compliant with all federal, state and industry standards, which is essential to hospitals achieving accreditation from The Joint Commission (TJC – formerly The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations). It is the first commercial laundry facility to provide 100-percent separation between the soil and clean areas of the plant, supported by positive air flow and a building designed for compliance.
Emerald Textiles is recognized for its advanced energy and water saving management systems, and is being presented the SDG&E Savings by Design Award, an award created as a partnership between the CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission) and San Diego Gas & Electric. Emerald Textiles offers enhanced customer service by working hand-in-hand with each client to educate, assist and monitor overall linen satisfaction and usage.
